What do people think about orbs as paranormal evidence? I, for one, don't think that they can be considered anything paranormal. The reasoning behind my stance is because of all the information out there that can explain what an orb most likely is. What is it you might ask? Well for the most part orbs are simply reflections caused by dust, water droplets, bugs, lint, etc. When an object is a certain distance away from your camera lense it will reflect the light of the flash and this will show up as a semi-transparent ball of light. The advent of cheap digital cameras caused a huge increase in orb photos. Digital cameras have flashes that are less than 2 inches away from the lense (for the vast majority anyway) of the camera. This increases the possibility of catching an orb by quite a bit in comparison to a camera that has a flash mounted more than 2 inches from the lense. Now does that mean that if your camera is not digital or has a flash that is more than 2 inches away from the lense that you can't get orb pictures? No. It just means that you will get less orb pictures than someone with a digital camera that has a flash less than 2 inches from the lense. There is also the possibility that something is physically ON the lense itself and as such will show up in every photograph you take. So for the most part, for me, orb photos are nice but are not to be considered evidence of the paranormal. There are a few instances where I may change that opinion. First, if the orb was visible to the naked eye, and didn't just show up in the picture, then I MIGHT be inclined to look at the picture a little more. Secondly, if the picture was taken without a flash, I may be more inclined to give merit to the photo. No flash means no reflection and the chances that some other light source caused the reflection can be determined by the person who was present for the photo. Again, that would have to be on a case by case basis and there aren't too many cameras that will take a picture in complete darkness without a flash. The only instance in which an orb photo could have circumstances that would tip the scale in favor of possible paranormal activity, in my opinion, would be if it is accompanied by other physical evidence. For example, if an orb photo is obtained at the precise moment that you had an EMF spike, along with a sharp temperature change, and someone SAW a full-body apparition, then I MAY consider the orb photo to be paranormally related. But when you have all that other nice clean evidence who needs the photo? Truthfully that much additional physical evidence wouldn't be needed but something else substantial would have to be there for me to even consider the possibility that the orb is paranormal in nature. Anyway, that is my long and rambling opinion and in my haste to type this out I may have ommitted vital details. Please feel free to ask questions about my opinion so I may clear up any confusion I may have caused. Lastly, please post your opinions about orb photography. Just because I my opinion is different than your's doesn't mean your's isn't just as valid. There are no experts in this field and that being true everyone's opinion deserves some merit.
